Nursery Team

The nursery has been open since 2004 and is owned by Andrea and Jason Fitton.  The nursery manager is Becci Edwards, who is assisted by two deputy managers: Kelly Ainsworth and Courtney Reece.  Kelly has worked for the nursery since it opened in 2004 and takes responsibility for any SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) considerations that are recognised.

The nursery takes pride in being endorsed by the Millie’s Mark award which accredits the provision given because all the practitioners are paediatric first aid trained.

The nursery has an ethos of providing professional development, ensuring all staff are qualified, from our apprenticeship scheme through to degree level qualifications.

We have worked throughout our time to support the neighbouring school, Buckton Vale Primary School and offer before and after school care along with holiday club provision.

The well-resourced nursery is found in the beautiful countryside setting of Carrbrook village, surrounded by nature. We provide nutritionally balanced food, cooked on-site by our nursery cook.

We offer a friendly nurturing environment so you can be confident your child is in the best setting for them to develop and grow and you can Relax…. your child has a Bright Future.

The Curriculum

Communication and language

Development in this area involves giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment, to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves in a range of situations both verbal and non-verbal. Children will be able to express themselves effectively, developing their own narratives and explanations by connecting ideas or events.

Personal social and emotional

Development in this area involves helping children to develop a positive sense of themselves, and others, to form positive relationships and develop respect for others: to develop social skills and learn how to manage their feelings: to understand appropriate behaviour in groups: and to have confidence in their own abilities.

Physical

Development in this area involves providing opportunities for all children to be active and interactive: and to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement. Children must also be supported to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy choices in relation to diet, exercise, self-help skills, independence and keeping themselves safe. Practitioners will also support all children in the four specific areas through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied.

Communication, Language and Literacy Development

At Bright Futures we have several ECAT practitioners who are involved in ‘Every Child’s A Talker’ training which is cascaded throughout the organisation to ensure all practitioners enhance all children’s language and communication through fun activities and daily routines within the organisation.

We also use Chatter Matters, which is a strategy that promotes communication, language and literacy as well as positive behaviour strategies to ensure children successfully achieve through non-verbal, verbal, visual and sign throughout their sessions.

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

At Bright Futures we welcome all children and their families. Children who attend our nursery and who have additional needs are offered every opportunity to play, learn and develop to their full potential.

At Bright Futures we have Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCO), who are trained to be aware of SEND and related issues. The SENCO’s are trained to support all of our children, families and educators in the provision of care, education and play; to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.

Bright Futures also has partnerships with other professional multi-agencies that can provide additional information and support for parents, children and educators.

If it is felt to be in to be in the best interests of your child, and other children at the nursery, we may find it necessary to help you to find alternative support.

Assessment and Record Keeping

During your child’s time at the nursery, we will keep a learning journey of their progress. These records are strictly confidential and are stored securely on our premises. As a parent you are entitled to access all this information about your child and it will be made available to you on request. Educators will always be willing to discuss the information with you and answer any questions that you may have. On some occasions it may be necessary to make an appointment.

Parents and Bright Futures in Partnership

At Bright Futures we strive to build good relationships between our educators and parents. We value these relationships highly because regular communication between us enables the needs of your child to be met.

Parents Evenings will be held annually plus a summative report of your child’s development each term. Our open door policy welcomes you to visit, spend time with your child and discuss any queries with a member of our friendly, approachable team of educators. This means that you do not have to wait until a Parent’s Evening to ask questions, or talk in confidence about any aspects of your child’s care and learning.

Our ‘Bright Futures Newsletter’ will keep you up to date with nursery news. A display board in the entrance area carries daily notices and news. A good relationship between us makes it easy and enjoyable for you to closely follow your child’s progress through nursery and to share with your child their experience of all that they will see, learn and achieve at Bright Futures.

We are visited twice a year by our Early Years Officer for Tameside to ensure that we are up to date with initiatives enabling practitioners to sign post parents/ carers to other services available to children and their families.  Training is provided via multi agencies in supporting staff to fulfil their role and responsibilities to children’s learning and development, their health, safety and well-being.
